Polio Vaccinations and the SV40 Virus

Both the live oral and the inactivated intramuscular polio vaccines have involved the witchcraft of raising monkeys, extracting their kidneys and placing the poisonous serum on the kidneys to replicate and multiply until the desired amount is met for final manufacturing.  This procedure continues to this day.

Four years after the development of the Salk vaccine, Bernice Eddy of the National Institutes of Health discovered the SV40 in the polio vaccines. Through her microscope she noticed monkey kidney cells, the same kind used to make the vaccine, were dying. In an experiment, she prepared kidney extracts from eight to ten rhesus monkeys and injected minute amounts under the skin of twenty-three new born hamsters. Within nine months, ‘large, malignant, subcutaneous tumors’ appeared on twenty of the animals. On July 6, 1960, concerned that a monkey virus might be contaminating the polio vaccine, Eddy took her findings to Dr. Joseph Smadel, chief of the NIH’s Biologics Division. Smadel dismissed the tumors as harmless ‘lumps.’

The same year, however, at a Merck laboratory in Pennsylvania, Dr. Maurice Hilleman and Dr. Ben Sweet isolated the virus. They called it simian virus 40, or SV40, because it was the 40th virus found in rhesus kidney tissue.   Hilleman was also concerned about the SV40 finding and it’s plausible cause of cancer sure to appear in the very future.

Bernice Eddy was taken off of polio research and transferred to the influenza section by NIH management. There, Eddy met another scientist named Sarah Stewart, who was waging her own battle of bureaucratic medicine.  (Sarah Stewart’s name remains virtually unknown today despite her huge contribution to modern medicine). Not only did she prove that some cancers were caused by viruses, but she also led the discovery of DNA recombination, which is one of the most popular  tools in medical research today.

From the beginning, Sarah Stewart promoted the idea that cancer was caused by viruses. Due to this, she was not well accepted by the NIH or NCI staffs who described her as ‘an eccentric lady’ determined to prove her theory.  Finally, she was given access to an NCI laboratory in Bethesda where she would try to prove her theories. Almost succeeding in 1953 her work was not accepted by the majority of NIH. They labeled her methods as sloppy and objected to the fact that she did not culture her viruses.

So in 1956 Bernice Eddy showed Sarah Stewart how to grow her viruses in a culture of mouse cells. Having all the ingredients she needed she began a series of experiments which are called ‘classic’ by modern day NIH researchers. In 1957, Stewart and Eddy discovered the polyoma virus which produced several types of cancer in a variety of small mammals. Polyoma proved that some cancers were indeed caused by viruses. Her discovery officially opened the doors of cancer virology.  But it raised some dark questions about previous works.

Before long, Yale’s laboratory discovered that the polyoma virus that had produced the cancer in Stewart’s mice and hamsters turned out to be virtually identical to Simian Virus #40 (SV-40).   Without warning NIH in advance, in October 1960, Eddy gave a talk to the Cancer Society in New York and announced that she had examined cells from the monkey kidneys in which the polio virus was grown and had found they were infected with cancer causing viruses. Her inference was clear: There were cancer-causing monkey viruses in the polio vaccine. Bernice Eddy warned  an epidemic of cancer in America was in the making. Word got back to her NIH higher up resulting in her demoted professional career. Any mention of cancer-causing monkey viruses in the polio vaccine was not welcomed by NIH.

Alarm was caused by the plausibility that nearly all the Salk vaccines contained this virus.  SV40 was denied and dismissed.  However, the issue was never put to rest.  Researchers continued to use the virus in their laboratory animals on which they acknowledged to find SV40 induced tumors.  Little did they know that this repulsive issue would continue to haunt them even into the millennium.

In his 1960 paper, “The Vacuolating Virus: SV40”, Dr. Sweet and co-author M.R. Hilleman wrote, "This new virus represents the detection for the first time of a hitherto non-detectable Simian Virus of monkey renal cultures and raises the important question of the existence of other such viruses.” Sweet says there were two things that the research team had determined: "First, we knew that SV40 had cancer-causing properties in hamsters which was bad news. Secondly, we found out that it hybridized with certain DNA viruses, like Adeno virus.”  When there is introduction of unstable animal viruses into the human body, there is a risk of recombinant (the formation of new combinations of linked genes) events occurring which have the potential of producing new diseases

Hilleman would later explain that government officials were worried that any potentially negative information could ignite a panic and jeopardize the vaccination campaign.  The cross-species cultivation of vaccines is clearly laden with risks that may be irreversible, carrying grave consequences.

In 1963 another NCI researcher, Joseph Fraumeni, conducted an epidemiological study on the virus and concluded that children inoculated with the contaminated vaccine did not show an increase in mortality rate.  He later admits that he didn’t conduct the study long enough to detect slow-developing cancers.[1][39[1]]

1959-1965 A study of 58,000 women who received the IPV (killed virus) showed a thirteenfold increased risk of brain tumors in their children. A clear indication that the SV40 was being passed down to offspring.

Decades later, 1993 Dr. Michele Carbone of Italy was working at the National Cancer Institute.  Carbone wanted to prove a controversial theory he had developed about the origins of mesothelioma, a deadly cancer that afflicts the mesothelial cells in the lining of the chest and the lung.

Mesothelioma takes the lives of three thousand American children every year.  This is supposedly 50% of all cancer deaths and it’s victims usually die eighteen months after diagnosis.  Carbone injected several hamsters with SV40 and noticed a later development of Mesothelioma.  Those hamster died within three to seven months.

Harvey Pass, chief of thoracic surgery at the National Cancer Institute (and senior surgeon at the time) saved tumor tissues from dozens of Mesothelioma serguries he had conducted.  He had one of the largest collections in the world.  Carbone asked Pass for a sample of SV40 DNA in his tumor-tissues samples.  He wanted to extract tiny fragments of DNA from the frozen tissue to amplify and identify and or characterize.   While Pass showed some enthusiasm, other individuals with the National Institute of Health who’d been around in the 60’s during Eddy’s findings, were not so enthused.  After all, they did try to keep a lid on the “scandal.”

Carbone and Antonio Procopio worked long hours and discovered that the SV40 DNA was found in at least 60% of Pass’s Mesothelioma samples.  Carbone could only conclude in his findings that the SV40 had housed itself in malignant cells, was actively producing protein and thus, undoubtedly contributing to the cancer problem.

Carbone, Procopio and Pass were the first to publish evidence of the plausible link between the Polio vaccines and Cancer.  Since then, laboratories in the U.S. Great Britain, France, Italy,   Belgium and New Zealand had the same findings.   The virus has been found in various brain, bone, thyroid and pituitary tumors.  Such “discoveries” have not been found in small numbers.  They have been large.  In 1995 Virologists and microbiologists found the SV40 in these tumors.  The SV40 was identified to be the one found in monkeys. In 1996 Mauro Tognon led a research team of the University of Ferrara and they announced to having found SV40 DNA in a large percentage of brain and neurological tumors, including glioblastomas, astrocytomas, ependymomas, and papillomas of the choroid plexus. They suggested the SV40 may be a "viral cofactor" and involved in the sharp increase in human brain tumors.  The authors, in the November, 1999, issue of Cancer, noted the virus was actively expressing proteins.

Thanks to those insidious polio vaccines, the cancer causing SV40 has been literally established into the human race.   In 1996 the virus was found in 45% sperm samples and 23% blood samples.  Butel reported to having found SV40 antibodies in 10% of the blood samples he obtained from Americans.  He conducted the same test on children born from 1980-1995 which confirmed that the virus was being passed down from generation to generation.

The National Cancer Institute is not willing to publicly accept the alarming evidence.  Strickler conducted an epidemiological study in 1998 to determine whether SV40 was linked to human cancer. Appearing in 1998 in the Journal of the American Medical Association, and receiving extensive publicity,  it concluded that the NCI's database on cancer incidence shows no statistically significant correlation between exposure to SV40-contaminated vaccine and rates of cancer, including rarer cancers such as mesotheliomas, ependymomas, and osteosarcomas.   (Of course not.  It would be incriminating evidence!) Richard Klausser, director of NCI stated, "I do not see any compelling molecular data.   In the absence of compelling clinical or epidemiological data, it's very difficult to say this looks like a pressing problem."   The multi-lab NCI study did find SV40 in cancer tumors and this study was completed in 1998.  We have yet to see it published.   Late 2002 China conducted a study which confirmed those results by examining sixty-five brain tumors and finding SV40 in each of the eight ependymomas and two choroid-plexus papillomas, common brain tumors among children. It also found the virus in 33 to 90 percent of five other kinds of brain tumors   examined.

Another individual working and living with serious denial is the acting head of the Food and Drug Administration's Office of Vaccines Research and Review, William Egan.  He admits to some SV40 presence in tumors, but criticizes anyone’s work (specifically Strickler) that would suggest contamination of the polio vaccines.   CDC remains somewhat neutral acknowledging that SV40 is found in some tumors.   However, CDC also wants to “save face” in their role of vaccine recommendation and thus, denies that Carbone’s work shows evidence which would point the blame on the polio vaccines.  After all, they don’t feel they can afford for the American public to withdraw any of their trust in the agency.  Not with the many more vaccines CDC is looking to jab us with in the near future.

"There is no doubt that SV40 is a human carcinogen," says Carbone. "SV40 is definitely something you don't want in your body."  Carbone also suggests the plausibility that asbestos and the SV40 work together bringing about potentially deadly results.

"This research is important in so many different ways. It's not just about SV40 and mesothelioma. It helps us understand the whole picture of how viruses interact with environmental carcinogens. This research can help us understand how completely unrelated carcinogens can work together in causing disease -- a mystery we have barely begun to unravel."-Carbone

The fact that the original vaccines were contaminated and current polio vaccines are still grown on African Green Monkey tissues is just one more indication that government vaccine officials are continuing to endanger public health.  Can you figured out why?

Representative Dan Burton has been part of the Congressional investigations of this imbedded and insidious contamination issue.  However, the likelihood of the NCI and the NIH allowing this to have any headway is unforeseen.  This may be a continuing battle for all victims with no resolve.  Will justice ever be rightly served for them?
